My Seattle Blogs: What’s Too Much When It Comes To Your Fan Page?

Can Your Fan Page be Doing you More Harm than Good…

Is having a fan page a must for your business? If you answered yes, then how can you maximizing your leverage on Facebook using this incredible tool without going over the top? How much is too much…let’s take a look.

Must Have’s…

1. Banner Logo - Certainly one of the first impressions you have will be your banner logo. Here is an opportunity to add engagement, contact info and a call to action piece on your fan page.

2. Landing Page – Without a doubt, a solid informative landing page can mean all the difference in how you initially engage a new visitor. Your landing page is in essence a web site inside your fan page. Here you can drive traffic to your blog or website, get visitors to watch a video about your business and even lure suggest they like your page to get a special offer.

3. About & Description – So often, I come across a page where the owner has either left this area blank or not utilized it to its full potential. This is your opportunity to add a Bio about you and your biz! You can include hyperlinks to your blog, a map and as many websites that you own or are on that your little heart desires.

4. Contact Form – An absolute must for any good landing page is the insertion of an easy to use contact form. Add a question or poll to add to the value of your form…this also allows your new contact the chance to give you more info on why they are contacting you!

Over the Top…Maybe?

1. Squeeze Page – A squeeze page is simply a marketing plan that asks folks to sign up (by giving your info) or liking a page in order to get a special offer or deal on something. This may work for some but telling someone they can get a special deal if they like your page might not sit well with all your visitors. Still, they are effective and useful for some businesses…only you have to decide if you can get more business using this method.

2. Auto Play Video – I’m not sure if it’s just me but I may not be interested in going right into a sales pitch when I visit a fan page for the first time. Think about what the consumer wants…not about selling them something right out of the gate!

What kind of stuff have you got on your fan page that gets you business? Do you have a particular fan page you think is working well…tell us about it!
